Finally re-opened! After years, this kingdom of legality has returned to me and all the people of the neighborhood. This two-floor building was taken out of the hands of crime in the ’90s, before when the famous criminal organization La Banda della Magliana would use the place to sell drugs. After an important 1996’s national law which gave real estate confiscated from criminal organization heritage back to the municipalities, it was remodeled and opened to the public in 2008 with three screening rooms.

I’ve always found it to have an interesting film programming suitable for everyone: family (morning screenings), youngsters and, especially, moviegoers like me. I love this theater because it’s possible to watch documentaries from international film festivals or movies without dubbing (something I think is essential) and also because it’s been organising special cultural events linked to music, gastronomy and community activism.

In 2014, bureaucratic problems closed the theater down again, but now it’s time to celebrate: it is now possible for us to return to this important and symbolic spot.
