Strikes in Italy to hit air travel and taxis on 28 May
Strike action on Wednesday to cause disruption to those travelling in Italy by air and by taxi.Italy faces a series of strikes on Wednesday 28 May by taxi drivers in several cities as well as by airport workers in Milan and staff employed by budget airline easyJet.Taxi strike
The taxi strike, which is not a nationwide protest, will last for 24 hours in Naples, Turin and Lamezia Terme.
Taxi drivers in Rome will strike from 08.00 to 22.00 while in Bari the taxi strike will be from 09.00 to 21.00.
Air travel
Air travellers may face disruption as a result of a four-hour stop by baggage handlers at Milan's Malpensa and Linate airports, from 13.00 to 17.00.
EasyJet
Italy-based flight attendants and pilots employed by low-cost airline easyJet are also scheduled to strike for four hours, from 13.00 to 17.00.
EasyJet passengers flying on Wednesday are advised to check the status of their flight with the airline before going to the airport.
Italy's civil aviation authority ENAC reminds travellers that all flights, including charters, are guaranteed during strikes from 07.00-10.00 and 18.00-21.00.
