Transport strikes in Italy set to disrupt travel in June
Italy faces a series of transport strikes in June.People travelling and commuting in Italy in June face disruption due to national strikes affecting air travel, trains and local public transport services.AlongsideĀ numerousĀ strikes organised at a local or regional level, the two main national strikes affecting public transport in Italy this month are scheduledĀ on 13 and 20 June.
13 June: Airport strike
Air travellers in Italy face disruption onĀ Friday 13 June due to strike action by airport staff at airports around the country.
The four-hour strike, scheduled fromĀ 13.00 until 17.00, has been called by the CUB Trasporti trade union.
The walkout may affect flight schedules as well as impacting ground operations including check-in and baggage services.
19-20 June: General strike
A 24-hour national general strike is set to affect rail services across Italy on Friday 20 June.
Scheduled from 21.00 on Thursday 19 June until the same time on Friday 20 June, the strike has been called by the USB, CUB and SGB trade unions.
Trenitalia reminds passengers that a minimum number of essential services are guaranteed during strikes on weekdays, from 06.00 to 09.00 and from 18.00 to 21.00, with more details available on its website.
The general strike will affect both the public and private sector on 20 June.
Local public transport networks in cities around Italy are set to be affected, details of which are to be announced nearer the time.
