Ridley Scott films The Dog Stars in Rome
Filming under way in Rome's EUR district.Ridley Scott, the veteran British director famed for Alien and Blade Runner, is currently in Rome to film his latest movie: The Dog Stars.Filming for the post-apocalyptic science fiction movie, based on the 2012 novel by Peter Heller, is under way in the EUR district of the Italian capital.
The film-set at Piazza Kennedy in the heart of the EUR resembles a battlefield, with wreckage including crashed aircraft among the staged ruins.
The story, set nine years after a devastating flu pandemic has decimated the world's population, follows former pilot Hig who lives in an abandoned airport along with a survivalist neighbour, Bangley.

When a mysterious radio transmission sparks hope of finding other survivors, Hig embarks on a dangerous journey that tests his resilience and challenges his understanding of survival.
Scott, who has strong links to Italy through his movies Gladiator, House of Gucci and All the Money in the World, has already filmed scenes for his latest project in Rome's legendary Cinecittà Film Studios as well as in various locations around the central Abruzzo region.
His latest big-budget blockbuster, scheduled for release in the US next March, will reportedly star Jacob Elordi in the lead role as as Hig, Margaret Qualley as Cima and Josh Brolin as Bangley.
The cast is also set to include Guy Pearce and Benedict Wong.
