Rome's blockbuster Caravaggio show to be extended due to popular demand

Caravaggio show clocks up more than 400,000 visitors since March.The Caravaggio blockbuster exhibition at Rome's Palazzo Barberini has been extended by two weeks - until 20 July - due to extraordinary public demand.The Caravaggio 2025 show, which had been due to close to 6 July, has been visited by more than 400,000 people since it opened on 7 March. Organisers paid tribute to the prestigious public and private collections for facilitating the extended opening, with 23 Caravaggio masterpieces out of the 24 initially exhibited to remain on display for an extra two weeks. From 7 July, the exhibition itinerary will remain unchanged, with the sole exception of the work I Musici (1595-1596) which will return to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, from 9 July, due to previous institutional commitments. The exhibition will observe the same opening hours as in June: Monday to Wednesday from 09.00 to 22.00 and Thursday to Sunday from 09.00 until midnight.
