Italy launches new Sicily Express train this summer
After the sell-out success of the Christmas and Easter services, the Sicilia Express offers Sicilians living in north Italy a low-cost way to travel home this summer.Italy will offer a special rail service this summer with the return of the Sicilia Express, a sleeper train that links the northern city of Turin with the island of Sicily. The aim of the direct service - which debuted last Christmas before returning over the Easter holiday - is to give Sicilians based in the north a low-cost way to travel home for the summer with an alternative to flights which can be very expensive during holiday periods.

The 18-hour train service, organised by Italy's FS Treni Turistici with the support of Sicilian regional authorities, will leave Turin on 30 July and return from Sicily on 23 August.
The train stops at the stations of Milan, Parma, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Salerno and Messina: from there, one leg goes to Siracusa in the south-east of Sicily and the other to Palermo in the north-west of the island.
Tickets, which went on sale on Thursday, costs €29.90 per journey, with dining cars offering traditional Sicilian food and wine, with a €25 menu.
