Italian driver sets new speed record for fastest car on a ship
Rome driver Barone breaks his own record.Italian driver Fabio Barone on Thursday set a new world record for the fastest car on a boat, reaching a speed of 164 km/h on the flight deck of an Italian Navy aircraft carrier.Driving a 1,000-horsepower Ferrari SF90 Stradale supercar on board the Trieste ship, Barone broke his own previous record of 152 km/h which he set last year in Taranto on another Italian navy ship, the Garibaldi.
The high-speed run took place in the port of Civitavecchia, north of Rome, and required a 40-member team and extensive preparation to ensure a safe and successful attempt on the 236-metre deck.
The Roman driver, already the holder of six Guinness World Records, dedicated his latest record to his team and the Italian Navy, telling reporters: "It's an unforgettable day, the fruit of nine months of work and sacrifice".
