At least 20 traffic police officers will be active in Piazza Venezia at any one time for the first two weeks of the new system, which will also see the modification of various city bus routes. The construction site, which began in 2023, is proceeding "on schedule", Rome mayor Roberto Gualtieri said, noting that the 10-year subway station project is scheduled for completion in September 2033.
