Serie A football teams feature in Italy's top passwords.The most used password in Italy in 2025 is 'admin' according to an annual report by online password manager NordPass which analysed passwords across 44 countries.The passwords in the seventh edition of the Top 200 Most Common Passwords report, compiled with threat exposure management platform NordSteller, were exposed in "public data breaches and dark web repositories" between September 2024 and September 2025. The second most used password in Italy over the last year is 'password' followed by '123456' (which is the most used password in the world for the sixth year in a row), with 'cambiami' in fourth place and '123456789' in fifth. Other commonly used passwords in Italy make reference to football, such as 'Juventus' or 'Napoli1926' , along with 'ciaociao' and the use of first names and swear words. "Much to our surprise, password quality is poor across all generations" - Nordpass said in a statement - "Where we expected discerning differences, we actually faced a striking uniformity in vulnerabilities." The researchers said that despite "significant efforts over the years to educate users about cybersecurity through awareness campaigns", their data shows little improvement in security habits, adding that with the growing number of breach cases each year, "the problem remains as prevalent and dangerous as ever". NordPass recommends using complex passwords—with combinations of upper and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols— and updating them regularly.
