New School Rome Takes Theatre trip to London

New School Rome is taking learning far beyond the traditional classroom with an immersive three-day theatre trip to London. Students will step directly into the world of professional performing arts, experiencing some of the city’s most iconic stages and productions while gaining insight into the creative industries that shape contemporary culture. The programme includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the National Theatre, where students will explore rehearsal rooms, production workshops and technical spaces rarely open to the public. The visit offers a unique opportunity to see how sets are built, costumes are prepared and complex staging is engineered—revealing the craft and collaboration behind major productions.Throughout the trip, students will attend performances of Hamlet, The Weir and Come Alive, engaging with texts they have studied in class and seeing them interpreted by leading directors and actors. Experiencing the plays live allows students to understand character, rhythm and atmosphere in a way no written script can fully capture. The initiative reflects the New School’s longstanding emphasis on experiential learning. By blending academic study with hands-on cultural exploration, the school aims to deepen students’ understanding of literature, performance, and the role of the arts in society. The London theatre trip is not only a celebration of creativity and global culture but also a practical extension of the New School’s educational philosophy: learning that is active, immersive and connected to the world.
