The strike occurs the day after a public holiday in Italy for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which this year falls on a Monday and results in a three-day weekend.
The strike also comes the day after Rome's trams return to service after being out of action for the past two months.
The walkout, which could affect the circulation of night buses on Monday 8 December, has been called by the Sul trade union in protest over a range of issues including working conditions and safety in the workplace.
