Rome trams back on track after two months

Tram network resumes service from 8 December.Rome's tram network returns to full operation, with some modifications, on Monday 8 December after a two-month closure to facilitate maintenance works. For the past two months Rome has replaced the trams with free buses while road infrastructure company Anas carried out major works on the Tangenziale Est ring road and the city undertook various track renewal projects. However the return of the trams on Monday, a public holiday in Italy for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, will not be completely back to normal, at least initially. From 9-12 December tram lines 3 and 8 will undergo modifications, while line 14 will continue to be partially replaced by buses due to the Togliatti tramway construction site. The day after the trams resume service - Tuesday 9 December - Rome's public transport network will be affected by a 24-hour strike. Here is the information in detail for each of the city's six tram lines, as published by Rome's mobility website, with effect from Monday 8 December. Line 2: Regular service returns between Piazzale Flaminio and Piazza Mancini. Line 3: Tram 3 will return between Valle Giulia and Trastevere station. Evening bus service for four days. From 9-12 December, changes will be made due to the closure of Viale del Parco del CelioĀ for the Carme project on the Caelian Hill. Trams will run until 20.35, after which the Trastevere–Porta Maggiore route will be covered by shuttle bus 3. Stops remain unchanged, with exceptions planned in the Celio area and in Piazza di Porta Capena. Line 5: Regular service between Termini and Piazza dei Gerani. Line 8: Evening service replaced from 9-12 December due toĀ the Celio construction work. From 19.00 onwards, trams will be replaced by buses along the entire Casaletto–Piazza Venezia route. Starting 13 December, the standard extended timetable will return, with an extension until 03.00 on weekends. Line 14: Shuttle service continues on the Togliatti line, with trams only running between Termini and Largo Preneste. The 14NAV bus remains operational on the Preneste–Viale Palmiro Togliatti route, with stops at the suspended tram platforms. Line 19:Ā Line 19 maintains the Piazza dei Gerani–Valle Giulia route, while the connection between Valle Giulia and Viale Giulio Cesare is provided by the 19NAV bus. The bus stops mirror the tram stops, with the addition of stops on Via Flaminia and Via Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa. Photo credit:Ā Markus Mainka / Shutterstock.com.
