The days when Rome’s culinary scene was limited to traditional pasta and pizza are long gone. Today, the capital offers a wealth of international experiences, and for those seeking refined Japanese cuisine in a stylish setting, Hiromi La Terrazza is an excellent destination.
Perched atop the 77 Hotel in the
Monti neighbourhood
, Hiromi La Terrazza is the latest adventure from the Hiromi group, which first arrived in Rome in 2018 with Hiromi Cake and expanded in 2023 with Hiromi La Maison. This newest opening sets itself apart through a distinctive gastronomic focus.
The menu focuses on sushi and raw Japanese specialities, with a selection that evolves daily. Guests can choose from carpaccio, gyoza, sashimi, tartare, nigiri, uramaki and temaki, with the wagyu roll emerging as a standout. The quality ingredients, meticulous presentation and stunning mise en place make every dish a feast for the eyes, bursting with beauty and colour. The wine list features around forty labels, with an emphasis on whites and sparkling wines. Meanwhile, the sake selection – curated by sake sommelier Roger Acosta – is thoughtfully organised into three categories: Umami, Aroma and Harmony.

The space offers about 70 seatings and it is divided into several distinct areas, making the choice of where to sit part of the experience: at the counter, overlooking both the kitchen and the nearby
Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore
, or in the more intimate tatami area. The latter is a small, elegantly designed room, adorned with refined floral motifs – an ideal and authentic setting for afternoon tea (served in traditional attire) or for dinner, provided one is comfortable dining seated on the floor without shoes.
Even in winter, the terrace maintains its charm: enclosed yet filled with light, it offers sweeping views over the city while maintaining a warm, cosy atmosphere thanks also to a very professional and knowledgeable service of the General Director Jacopo Giovannini and Floor Manager Fiammetta Oliviero.
