For some tourists, the immediate Vatican area is only good for visiting St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums and little else — after all, there are too many people, too many tourist traps, and every other landmark feels far away. Others, conversely, are not at all put off by the idea of staying in an actual residential neighbourhood! In fact, they welcome it and want to explore the city, away from the madding crowds (as they say!). This is what Gregorio VII offers: a chance to discover Rome!
Located at Via Gregorio VII 102, on the first floor of a building served by an elevator, the apartment has been fully renovated and carefully furnished by its owner, who chose From Home to Rome to manage it in her absence. Behold: this is not a space put together in a hurry, but rather the result of considered choices, warm materials, and a clear sense of what a stay in Rome should feel like in the 21st century.
The entrance opens onto a generous living area anchored by two sofas that look exactly like the kind you sink into after a long day of exploration. The renovation blends clean contemporary lines with details that feel personal rather than generic.
The kitchen is built around a practical central island and comes fully equipped: oven, Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, an induction stove… A small private balcony sits just off the kitchen — the perfect spot for a slow morning coffee before heading out!

The sleeping area consists of three rooms: a main bedroom, a twin that can be converted into a double, and a single bedroom — this one also come its own little balcony, where the washing machine lives discreetly out of the way. Two bathrooms, both with showers, both designed with the same modern and functional approach as the rest of the flat, complete the layout of this apartment, which can sleep up to 5 people.
The result is a minimalist-style apartment that works beautifully for a family, for two couples travelling together, or for a small group of friends who want their own space without feeling like they’re staying in a hotel.
Via Gregorio VII has that particular quality of Roman streets that tourists don’t always find: it’s central and has everyone one might need, but it’s modern! St. Peter’s and the Vatican Museums are a short walk away, but there are real cafés here, a lively local market right across the building entrance, and shops as far as your eye can see.. The kind of daily rhythm that makes you feel like you’re actually living in Rome rather than just passing through it. Prati and Trastevere are both close by, and crossing the Tiber is never more than a few minutes away.
The apartment faces the quieter, inner side of the street. For a building on a busy Roman road, this matters more than it might seem: it means natural light throughout the day and genuine silence at night. In our experience, guests tend to underestimate how much a good night’s sleep shapes their entire trip… but this owner did not!
