Trevi Fountain stunt attracts criticism in Rome.American pop star Katy Perry paid an unconventional tribute to Rome's most famous landmark this weekend, substituting the traditional coin for her credit card when making a wish at the Trevi Fountain.The 41-year-old singer posted a video to her social media on Sunday, showing herself visiting Rome and placing her credit card into the fountain's waters before retrieving it before it could float away.
In the clip, Perry acknowledged her own reluctance to embrace loose change, referencing her song Save as Draft, which contains the line "I don't f**k with change" - before adding that she nonetheless felt compelled to make a wish at the fountain.
"Someone give me a penny", she sang, before saying: "I feel like I need to put something in the Trevi Fountain for good luck".
Perry's Rome visit also included a private concert at La Nuvola on Saturday for the Vorwerk International Award Night, an annual event celebrating the best salespeople and consultants from around the world.

The Trevi Fountain, completed in 1762, is one of the world's most visited landmarks.
According to tradition, tourists who toss coins into the basin of the Baroque monument - right hand over left shoulder with eyes closed - are guaranteed a return trip to the Eternal City.
The coins thrown into the fountain, gathered up on Monday and Friday mornings, are donated to the Catholic charity Caritas to provide assistance to the poor and homeless.
Rome recently launched a controversial ticketed entry system, charging tourists €2 to queue up to get close to the Baroque monument, however there is free access for everyone after 22.00 every night.
The Trevi Fountain also made headlines in Italy this weekend after the Italian pop star Achille Lauro gave a surprise concert at the Roman landmark on Friday night.
