UPDATED FOR 2026! Easter in Rome is a time of grand feasting and deep-rooted traditions and the city is abuzz with both locals and visitors celebrating Pasqua (Easter Sunday) and Pasquetta (Easter Monday). The scent of roasted lamb and artichokes fills the air as families gather for long, leisurely meals. If you’re lucky enough to be invited into a Roman home, you’ll experience the full spectrum of Easter’s culinary delights–abbacchio al forno (roasted suckling lamb), coratella (lamb pluck stew), and carciofi alla romana (braised Roman artichokes). But even if you’re visiting and dining out, don’t worry—you can still enjoy a fantastic Easter feast at one of Rome’s many exceptional restaurants.

While Easter Sunday is the highlight, Pasquetta is nearly as important to Romans. The day after Easter is a national holiday, traditionally spent picnicking in the countryside or enjoying another indulgent meal with friends. Many restaurants remain open to cater to the festive crowds, but spots fill up fast. Whether you’re craving a classic Roman Easter menu or something more modern, now is the time to book your table. Here’s where to eat in Rome for Easter and Pasquetta in 2026!

Cesare al Casaletto
: This neo-trattoria at the end of the Tram #8 will serve lunch and dinner on Easter Sunday and Monday. I never miss the fried lamb chops and coratella. There may be outdoor seating, weather permitting. Book online.
Easter Sunday: Open lunch and dinner
Easter Monday: Open lunch and dinner

Cesare al Pellegrino
: The sister restaurant to Cesare al Pellegrino is more central (it’s a short walk from Campo de’ Fiori and Piazza Navona) but has a more limited menu thanks to kitchen constraints. Nevertheless, this trattoria will be serving all the local Easter classics. Book online.
Easter Sunday: Open for lunch
Easter Monday: Open for lunch

Tavernaccia Da Bruno
: This amazingly delicious trattoria will be open for lunch and dinner on Easter Sunday and Monday. This is tied with Cesare for my top holiday dining spot. Call +39065812792.

Piatto Romano
: Located in Testaccio, Rome’s undisputed offal capital, Piatto Romano will be serving virtually every imaginable part of the lamb–plus artichokes stewed with favas and peas, among other vegetable delicacies–on Pasquetta, Easter Monday. Book online.
Easter: Closed

Grappolo D’Oro
: This reliable spot in central Rome serves all the city’s classics alongside a stellar wine list. Expect plenty of lamb and artichokes.

Latteria Trastevere
: My favorite wine bar in Rome is open Sunday and Monday evening. They might not offer the whole lamb spread, but they do have Mauro Secondi’s incredible pasta al forno, a Roman holiday staple, plus the best vino around. Call: +39 06 58332008

Santo Palato
: Sarah Cicolini’s contemporary Rome- and Abruzzo-inspired menu will be heavy on abbacchio, Rome’s suckling lamb, Easter Sunday. Book online.

La Gensola
: This restaurant in Trastevere specializing in Roman and Sicilian food (seafood in particular) flies under the radar while remaining consistently solid for a least the 20 years I have been going. It’s open Sunday and Monday. Call +390658332758.
Easter Sunday: Open lunch and dinner
Easter Monday: Open lunch and dinner

Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa’
: This pub is one of the greatest places in Italy to drink craft beer and it is open every day of the year. There’s no food but it’s always open for all your liquid dining needs. No reservations needed.
Easter Sunday: Always open
Easter Monday: Always open
