Self-certification
With the entry into force of the Bassanini Law (D.P.R. 445/2000) it is possible, in many cases, to replace the certificates with a simple self-certification.
It applies to: public offices, schools, universities, civil motorisation, public service concessionaires.
Private individuals have the right to accept it (that is, it is not an obligation for them to accept it).

The following certificates or declarations can be replaced with a simple signed declaration:
- Luogo e data di nascita
- Cittadinanza
- Residenza
- Stato Civile
- Stato di famiglia
- Esistenza in Vita
- Vivenza a carico
- Godimento dei diritti politici
- Nascita propria e dei figli
- Morte del coniuge, dei genitori e dei figli
- Posizione militare
- Iscrizione ad albi tenuti dalle pubbliche amministrazioni
- Titolo di studio o Qualifica professionale
- Esami sostenuti
- Titoli di specializzazione, di abilitazione, di formazione, di aggiornamento e di qualificazione tecnica
- Stato di disoccupazione
- Possesso e numero del codice fiscale e della partita iva
- Reddito
- Pagamento avvenuto di tasse, tributi e contributi
- Qualità di pensionato e categoia di pensione
- Qualità di studente o di casalinga
- Qualità di legale rappresentante, di tutore, di curatore e simili
- Iscrizione presso associazioni o formazioni sociali di qualunque tipo
- Qualità di vivenza a carico
- La condizione di non aver riportato condanne penali

For declarations not listed, the signature must be authenticated, except in cases where the declaration is attached to the application that is being presented.
Authentication of the signature for applications to public offices is no longer necessary, but the signature affixed in the presence of the employee and the presentation of an identity document is sufficient.
Photocopies of documents to be submitted for public competitions must no longer be authenticated if submitted with applications.
