Italy launches train to take beer lovers to Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest train to link Rome and Munich over two weekends in autumn.Italy is launching a special night train to take beer lovers to Oktoberfest 2025, linking Rome with Munich and offering on-board entertainment to get the party started.The Munich Express, part of Italy's tourist train initiative, is scheduled to depart from Rome's Termini station on Friday evening, returning to the Italian capital the following Monday morning.
Travellers can choose between seats, couchettes or sleeper cars in what is being billed as an "easy, comfortable and effortless" way to get to Oktoberfest from Italy.
"Forget the stress of driving and unnecessary stops: with us, the fun begins as soon as you step on board" - FS Treni Turistici Italiani says - "On board our train, you'll find Bavarian-themed entertainment ready to get you into the Oktoberfest spirit".
Beer lovers in northern Italy can also board the train in Verona, Trento, Bolzano, Bressanone, Fortezza, Vipiteno, Colle Isarco and Brennero.
First weekend: The new service will leave Rome on Friday 26 September at 20.00, arriving in Munich the next day at 14.30. The return journey leaves Munich at 14.30 on Sunday 28 September, arriving into Roma Termini at 06.30 on Monday 29 September.
Second weekend: The second round-trip to Oktoberfest leaves Termini on Friday 3 October at 20.00, arriving into Munich at 14.30 the next day. The return leg departs Munich on Sunday 5 October at 14.30, arriving into Rome the next morning at 06.30.
