Since the start of last year, almost 200 seriously sick and wounded Gaza children have been evacuated to Italy for urgent medical care in Italian hospitals.A special flight carrying a group of Palestinian students and researchers from the Gaza Strip is set to arrive in Rome on Wednesday, the Italian foreign ministry said. The group comprises around 39 students and researchers, the recipients of scholarship programmes in Italian universities, along with about 30 Palestinian citizens who will arrive in Italy for family reunification. Italian deputy premier and foreign minister Antonio Tajani will be at Rome's Ciampino Airport to welcome the group, along with Italy's university minister Anna Maria Bernini who travelled to Jordan to accompany the students on their journey to Italy. The operation will see more than 70 Palestinians arrive in Italy from Amman, on two flights to Ciampino and Milan Linate.
