Italy faces airport and airline strikes on 29 October

Flights at risk of delays at several Italian airports on Wednesday due to strikes in the air travel sector.Passengers travelling through airports in Milan, Florence and Pisa on Wednesday 29 October could face disruption due to 24-hour strike action by airport ground staff.The walkout has been organised by multiple trade unions and will affect check-in staff, baggage handlers, boarding operators and cleaners at Milan's Malpensa and Linate as well as Pisa and Florence airports. Airline strikes In addition, there are strikes organised on Wednesday affecting several airlines. Athough the duration of these strikes is shorter than the airport strikes, they could still cause significant disruption at all Italian airports. Italy-based pilots and cabin crew at Spanish budget airline Vueling will be on strike nationwide from 13.00 to 17.00. Ground staff employed by Dutch carrier KLM and Air France will also be on strike for four hours, from midday until 16.00. Travellers who are due to travel through the airports affected by the strike on Wednesday, or with the carriers on strike, are advised to check their flight details with their airline company and arrive at the airport early.
