Italy faces airport and airline strikes on 11 May

The strike action by ENAV employees in Rome is expected to lead to disruption to flights across the country.
Italy-based pilots and cabin crew employed by British low-cost airline easyJet are to stage an eight-hour strike the same day, also from 10.00 to 18.00.
In addition, security staff at Rome's Fiumicino and Ciampino airports, and ground staff at Palermo airport, have declared a four-strike from midday until 16.00, while airport ground staff at Milan Malpensa and Cagliari plan a walkout from 13.00 until 17.00.Ā This could impact check-in, boarding and baggage handling services.
Italyās national carrier ITA Airways announced that it has beenĀ forced to cancel "approximately 38% of its flights"Ā scheduled for 11 May as a result of the strike action.
Travellers who are scheduled to fly through Italian airports on Monday are advised to check their flight details in advance and arrive at the airport early.
Italy's civil aviation authority ENAC, whoseĀ websiteĀ has more information about the strike, reminds air travellers that during strikes in Italy flights scheduled between 07.00-10.00 and 18.00-21.00 are guaranteed.
