Rome to shut Metro A line this weekend

Metro A to close early on Friday night and reopen as normal on Sunday.Rome's entire Metro A underground line will be suspended from the evening of Friday 22 May and throughout Saturday 23 May, for scheduled infrastructure renewal works, transport operator ATAC has announced. The last trains on the subway line will depart from the terminal stations of Battistini and Anagnina at 21.00 on Friday evening. Replacement bus services will begin running from 20.45 - before the trains stop - and will continue until 01.30 in the early hours of Saturday morning. On Saturday 23 May, the Metro A line will remain closed for the entire day. Replacement buses will begin operating from Battistini at 05.30 and from Anagnina at 05.45, with the last departures from both termini at 01.30.  Two bus routes will cover the line during the closure: MA1 running between Battistini and Arco di Travertino, and MA2 between Flaminio and Anagnina. The two services will overlap on the Flaminio-Arco di Travertino stretch, the busiest section of the route, to increase frequency and reduce inconvenience for travellers. Normal service will resume on Sunday. The Metro B, B1 and C lines are unaffected and will operate as usual throughout the weekend. The closure of Metro A coincides with Rome's Notte dei Musei, an annual event when the city museums host stay open late with live music and a €1 etry fee.
