Via dei Crociferi is just another name of yet another narrow street in the city center of Rome… Until you look it up on a map to realize where this alley is. Crociferi 15, the newest addition to our portfolio, is just seconds – that’s right, seconds! – from the Trevi Fountain, in the kind of location where one would expect to find only luxury hotels and boutiques. Newsflash: authentic stays like this one are still around!
This apartment occupies the top floor of a historic building that technically dates to the Middle Ages, although, given its location, this has probably been occupied since before the Roman Empire! That top floor is worth dwelling on for a moment, because it’s worth saying clearly: there is no elevator, and the layout involves extra stairs from the landing to the actual flat. For guests who are fully mobile and travelling light, this is a non-issue — but it’s something to keep in mind when booking, and we’d recommend it less for those with mobility difficulties or travelling with very young children.

What greets you upstairs is an apartment that wears its age well. The exposed wooden beam ceilings, the terracotta floors, the old fireplace (keep in mind that this is just for decoration now!)… these aren’t decorative choices, they’re the building itself. The plumbing and windows are entirely new, the kitchen is compact but fully equipped, the renewed bathroom features a generous walk-in shower, and yes, there’s air conditioning throughout. The structure, however, remains ancient. It shows, and that’s entirely the point.

The aesthetic is deliberately minimal — clean walls, simple lines, furniture that doesn’t compete with the architecture outside of the windows. There’s a warmth to it that calls to mind the interiors of southern Italy, uncluttered and quietly beautiful. The living room has a comfortable sofa bed that sleeps up to two guests. The bedroom is a place to recharge and relax, and it leads directly onto the terrace, should you want to take that peace of mind outside.
Accessible directly from the bedroom, the terrace is one of those outdoor spaces that earns its keep. It’s a real Italian terrazzo, with a size that is just right for breakfast, for an evening drink, or simply for sitting with a coffee and remembering where you are.
We mentioned how the Trevi Fountain is, genuinely, seconds away on foot. But Via dei Crociferi sits in
a part of Rome
that offers far more than a famous landmark: the Quirinale Palace, the Spanish Steps, the National Gallery at Palazzo Barberini, the Capuchin Crypt… even the Pantheon: these are all within walking distance. This is the dense, layered historical center of Rome
, and Crociferi puts guests right in the middle of it.For a stay with up to four guests — two in the bedroom, two on the sofa bed — in one of the most sought-after locations in the city, Crociferi can be booked directly
