Italy faces national train strike on 2-3 October

Train passengers in ItalyĀ face disruption on Thursday and Friday due to a 24-hour strike affecting rail services across the country.Italy faces disruption to rail services across the country due to a 24-hour national general strike from 21.00 on Thursday 2 October until the same time on Friday 3 October.The strike, called by theĀ S.I. CobasĀ trade union in "support of the Palestinian resistance" and demanding an "end to the genocide" in Gaza,Ā is set to affect rail services operated by Trenitalia,Ā Trenord andĀ Trenitalia-Tper. Trenitalia said that its rail services could face "cancellations or changes",Ā and published a list of guaranteed medium- and long-distance train journeys,Ā with travel information also available for eachĀ region. Essential regionalĀ train services are guaranteed in Italy during strikes on weekdays from 06.00 to 09.00 and from 18.00 to 21.00. Strikes in Italy to affect air travel, public transport and trains in October Trenord - which operates rail services in the northern Lombardia region around Milan - said that in the event of airport trains being cancelled, direct buses to Malpensa will be set up to and from Milan Cadorna and Stabio. Also adhering to the strike are employees of Trenitalia-Tper,Ā which operates rail services in the northern Emilia-Romagna region, with travel information available on its website. Those flying in or out of Rome should note that rail connections to and from Fiumicino airport may experience delays or cancellations as a result of the strike.
