Rome airport strike on 13 October
Strike to affect Fiumicino and Ciampino airports.Air travellers passing through Rome on Monday 13 October face disruption due to a four-hour strike by employees of Aeroporti di Roma (AdR) which manages the capital's Fiumicino and Ciampino airports. The strike, called by the FAST / CONFSAL unions to demand better wages and greater protection for workers, will see AdR staff go on strike from midday until 16.00.
Delays and cancellations are possible on domestic and international routes, however all flights to and from the Tuscany region, where regional elections are under way, will be guaranteed.
Those with flights scheduled during the strike are advised to check their flight details with their airline, arrive at the airport early and consider the possibility of longer waits at security checkpoints or check-in.
The strike action comes the day after Fiumicino airport introduced the Entry/Exit System (EES), the European Union's new digital border system.
